Artist Statement
"I have been creating things longer than I've known enough to label it art. Ken and Barbie were my first models - cheap and good at holding poses. I tend to discover the human elements and images hidden in the material and present them for viewing. My glass figures stretch and dance in their celebration of life, flinging off the restraints of being human."
About Karen
Karen Eyara Naylor began working with glass in 1985, and she has been creating with it ever since. Karen studied at the University of Madison in Wisconsin and the University of Minneapolis in Minnesota. A few weeks in Murano, Italy and a couple of classes at the Pilchuck Glass School in Washington gave her the opportunity to work with some of the masters.
